Massage therapy is the 'hands-on'
mobilisation of the soft tissues of the body.
There are many forms of massage therapy such
as sports massage, deep tissue massage and
myofacial release, to name a few. Different
types of massage will each have their own
emphasis, such as what tissues are targeted
and how deeply they are worked.
Massage has the following benefits: improved
circulation by bringing oxygen and other
nutrients to body tissues; relief of muscular
tension and pain; increased flexibility and
mobility and helping to clear waste products
from muscles, which reduces pain and stiffness
in muscles and joints.

"Massage therapy is also thought to
help the body's stress response by lowering
levels of hormones such as cortisol and therefore
may enhance immune function."
